Members of Studio 5 Partnership, Architects/Planners completed the design of a unique facility that provides  medical treatment and staging services for the zoo's growing herd of buffalo and elk. A sculptural and visually exciting building was created. It provides separate indoor and outdoor zones for up to 8 animals. It affords completely safe and fully accessible work areas for the handlers and veterinarians to access the animals from the sides, front, rear and above.

Members of Studio 5, in conjunction with the staff of the Bronx Zoo, performed extensive research, to accommodate the spatial needs of these large and powerful animals. The project was presented to the community at a public meeting to gain approvals.
