Members of Studio 5 Partnership have successfully designed scores of food markets throughout the metropolitan region.  None proved more difficult to resolve than the one in Midland Park.

Members of Studio 5 Partnership, working closely with A&P construction and an engineering staff, developed a design that was approved by the Planning Board and overcame the following difficult issues:

·      The site was in a flood plain and portions of the site were in the 100 year storm surge.

·     The topography dropped over 20 feet from the street frontage.

·     The street frontage was the rear of the building, while the front of the building faced the rear of the site.

·    The shape of the property made a portion of the parking accessible across a foot bridge.

·     The neighborhood demanded that the building be designed using materials and details that blended with the character of the residential area.
